Orlando Day Trip from Flagler Beach: Theme Parks, Shopping & the Best Part , Coming Home to the Ocean

There’s a certain kind of Florida vacation that lets you have it all: high-energy theme parks in the morning, serious outlet shopping in the afternoon, and the soft hush of Atlantic waves by bedtime.
That’s the beauty of using Flagler Beach as your Central Florida home base.
From Bombora Oceanfront Suites, Orlando’s major theme parks are roughly 90 minutes away by car in typical traffic. Then, when the rides, crowds, parking lots, and souvenir bags have finally had their moment, you can head back east... back to the coast... back to your own comfortable oceanfront suite.
Because why stay in a crowded hotel corridor when you can wake up just steps from the sand?
Why Flagler Beach makes an easy Orlando day-trip base
Orlando is exciting. No question.
The theme parks are dazzling, the shopping is excellent, and there’s always something new to see. But after a full day of walking, waiting, navigating, and making memories, many travelers are ready for something quieter.
That’s where Flagler Beach comes in.
Bombora Oceanfront Suites is located directly across from the Atlantic, with a dune walk-over right in front of the property. You’re just steps from the beach... just steps from the salty breeze... just steps from a peaceful evening instead of another elevator ride in a busy resort tower.
Our small, family-owned property offers four modern suites, from cozy one-bedroom layouts to the spacious three-bedroom Dolphin Penthouse. Every suite includes a full kitchen, living space, a sleeper sofa, and an ocean view. There’s also free on-site laundry , a very welcome detail after a day of theme park adventures or sandy beach time.
Did I mention the 180-degree Atlantic views?

The drive from Flagler Beach to Orlando
The drive to Orlando is approximately 75 to 80 miles, depending on your destination and route. Most travelers take I-95 south before connecting with I-4 west toward the attractions area.
In normal traffic, plan on about 90 minutes each way. During rush hour, holiday periods, or busy theme park weekends, it can take longer , so give yourself a little breathing room.
A smart plan looks something like this:
Leave Flagler Beach early, around 6:30 or 7 a.m.
Arrive near your chosen park around opening time.
Spend the morning and afternoon at one major attraction.
Add outlet shopping or dinner on the way out.
Head back to the coast in the evening.
Could you visit multiple parks in one day? Technically, yes. Would we recommend it for most families? Probably not. Choose one main experience and enjoy it fully. You’ll have more time for rides, shows, snacks, and those wonderfully ridiculous family photos.
Pick your Orlando theme park experience
Walt Disney World
For classic family magic, Walt Disney World is the obvious choice. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom each offer a different kind of day.
If you’re traveling with young children, Magic Kingdom may be the natural pick. Older kids and adults might prefer the attractions and cinematic thrills at Hollywood Studios, or the food and international flavors of EPCOT.
Disney is a full-day commitment, especially when you factor in parking, transportation, and time inside the resort area. Check the official park calendar and ticket requirements before your visit, and reserve plenty of energy for the drive home.
Universal Orlando Resort
Universal is a favorite for big rides, movie magic, and high-energy attractions. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure can make a thrilling one-day outing, while Epic Universe adds another major option to the Orlando theme park lineup.
Harry Potter fans will want to plan carefully, especially if visiting more than one park. Check the official Universal Orlando park hours and information before you go, since schedules and special events change throughout the year.
SeaWorld, Aquatica, or a smaller attraction day
Not every Orlando adventure has to mean a massive theme park.
SeaWorld and Aquatica can be a good fit for families who want a mix of marine life, rides, and water-based fun. For a shorter or more flexible outing, consider an attraction along International Drive or a smaller amusement experience.
The local-insider rule? Match the attraction to your group’s energy. A relaxed day with fewer stops can be more enjoyable than trying to squeeze every possible experience into one very long itinerary.
Add outlet shopping : but choose your area wisely
Want to bring home more than a pressed souvenir penny?
Orlando is a shopper’s paradise, with major outlet centers, indoor malls, specialty stores, and plenty of places to browse between attractions.
If you’re spending your theme park day near Universal or International Drive, Orlando International Premium Outlets can be a convenient stop before dinner. It’s a good option for athletic wear, designer labels, shoes, luggage, and last-minute gifts.
If your day takes you closer to the Disney area or south Orlando, consider shopping at the Florida Mall or the outlets near the Disney corridor instead. Trying to cross town for one specific store can eat up more vacation time than expected : and traffic on I-4 has a way of turning “quick shopping trip” into a full adventure.
So, which is better: more stores or more time at the beach?
Exactly.
Pick one shopping destination that fits your route, set a time limit, and save a little energy for the drive home.
The best part: coming home to the ocean
After a long day in Orlando, the return to Flagler Beach feels almost magical.
The traffic fades. The skyline opens. The air turns salty. And instead of arriving at another anonymous hotel room, you return to a comfortable oceanfront suite with space to spread out.

Make a simple dinner in the full kitchen. Put your feet up on the sleeper sofa. Sort the day’s purchases at the dining table. Let the kids watch a little television while the grown-ups step outside for a breath of ocean air.
Need to wash park clothes or sandy towels? The free on-site laundry is right there.
Want to see the water before bed? You’re just steps from the sand.
Want a quiet morning after a busy day? Pour your Coffee, open the curtains, and watch the Atlantic brighten beyond the dunes.
That’s the difference between staying near the action and staying somewhere that helps you recover from it.

8:30 or 9:30 p.m. : Back at Bombora Shoes off. Lights low. Waves nearby. Vacation mode restored.
Keep a beach day on the schedule, too
An Orlando day trip is fun, but don’t let it take over your entire stay.
One of the best things to do in Flagler Beach is also the simplest: walk down to the water and stay awhile. Surf, swim, fish, beachcomb, or settle into a chair with a good book. Walk toward the Flagler Beach Pier area and explore the restaurants, cafés, bars, surf shops, and sweet treats nearby.
For more local ideas, browse the official Visit Flagler things-to-do guide, then come back to your oceanfront home base when you’re ready for a quieter pace.

A full kitchen makes it easy to enjoy breakfast before a road trip or prepare a late dinner after the parks. And with a shared ocean-side patio, you have another inviting place to enjoy morning Coffee or evening cocktails without leaving the property.
Plan your Florida beach getaway
A Florida beach getaway doesn’t have to choose between excitement and relaxation.
Spend the day chasing thrills in Orlando. Shop for something special. See a show. Try a new restaurant. Then come back to the rhythm of the ocean and the comfort of a place that feels a little more like home.
At Bombora Oceanfront Suites, you’ll be just steps from the sand, just steps from the dune walk-over, and within walking distance of Flagler Beach’s local food and fun scene. You’ll have the convenience of a vacation rental, the atmosphere of a classic retro beach town, and the easy access needed for a Central Florida adventure.
